John is a freelance writer/photographer for Metro and is a California native. Carissa has been published in three different magazines (two in Pennsylvania and one nationally) and is currently working on her first novel while struggling with mild, chronic aphasia. She recently moved all the way across the country after living most of her life on the opposite coast. Our mutual passion for both the great outdoors and the culinary world is what brought us together. With one of us being a tall, dark, handsome Arab and the other being a short, pasty-white, sometimes shy individual–we’re not saying who’s who–all combined we have four boys ranging in ages from 9 to 19. We reside in the Bay Area which allows us to explore, discover and taste–through our forks and trails.
