How hard it is depends on the path you go. There are two options for you:

1. Build a solar system from scratch - This entails determining your system size, getting the engineering and design work done, getting permits, procuring your equipment, and installing it all yourself.
2. DIY from a kit - Companies like DIY Solar provide you with a custom designed solar kit that you can install yourself, saving you a lot of headache.

If you choose the first path, you could potentially save more money, but you have a lot more moving parts to manage and there is more opportunity for something to go wrong.

If you choose the second path, then the only things you have to do are getting the permits with the designs we give you and installing the system.
